Light
Design isn’t always made of volumes and solid geometries. Sometimes it becomes intangible, light as air, fluid as water. This is what happens with Lacrime del Pescatore, Ingo Maurer’s luminous installation that transforms light into a sensory experience.
An ethereal composition that captures the gaze and ignites the imagination, rewriting the rules of interior design through poetry, matter and light.
The design piece to know: Lacrime del Pescatore by Ingo Maurer
More than a lamp, it’s a story suspended in space. Three light nets, hung like veils, on which crystal drops shine, capable of refracting light like real tears.
Maurer, known as “the poet of light,” has created a work born from a simple and deeply evocative image: the sea, waiting, the beauty hidden in everyday gestures.
The result is an installation capable of transforming space without ever dominating it.
Lacrime del Pescatore lives on transparencies and reflections, adapts to minimalist living spaces, intimate areas, large environments where it becomes a poetic sign. And each time it manages to surprise, giving a sense of suspension.

Expanding the view: light that furnishes even without form
In contemporary interiors, light is no longer just functional. It has become narrative matter: it builds atmospheres, emphasizes volumes, evokes emotions.
Installations like Maurer’s remind us that illuminating doesn’t just mean “making light.” It’s a way to tell stories, caress surfaces, suggest an invisible movement that accompanies space.
More and more architects and designers treat light as if it were a material: it’s shaped, modulated, inserted in dialogue with colors and textures. Lacrime del Pescatore is a perfect example of this approach, where lightness transforms into character.
Our view on design: interpretations and advice
We chose to place Lacrime del Pescatore in a bathroom with essential language, transforming it into the emotional heart of the project.
Suspended as if in a game of imagination, the installation created continuous movement: light refracted on the crystal drops, generating a silent dance of reflections and transparencies.
Our advice? Use it where you want to surprise with delicacy. Above an important table, next to a large window or in a space that desires a light but meaningful touch.
